About AMHA

Mission Statement

To positively engage local youth in the fundamentals of hockey through:

  • Sportsmanship
  • Teamwork
  • Character Development

About Us

Founded in 1975, Ames Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) has been dedicated to growing the game of hockey and building a strong community for more than 50 years.

Our program welcomes skaters from 3 to 18 years old, providing opportunities for players of all skill levels to learn, develop and compete. We proudly serve families from Story, Boone, Hamilton, Jasper, Marshall and Polk counties, uniting communities through the love of the game!

League divisions include Learn-to-Play, House League(no-travel), High School Alliance and travel teams: Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam and High School. Teams typically practice up to three times a week with games and tournaments on the weekends to maximize development and fun.

At AMHA our mission goes beyond the ice. We strive to engage local youth in the fundamentals of hockey while fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, fun and character development. Whether your child is just learning to skate or competing at a higher level, AMHA provides a supportive environment to grow both as a player and a person.

Join us and be a part of a tradition that has been building athletes, teammates, and leaders since 1975! Welcome to AMHA!
