AMHA is proud to partner with McFarland Sports Medicine Clinic to provide our baseline testing and concussion protocol. McFarland Sports Medicine uses the C3Logix System to manage concussion treatment from baseline testing to post-concussion screening and return to play.
Players Squirt level and above will need to fill out the online request concussion screening form or call 515-239-3410 and request the Baseline Testing. Let them know you are with AMHA. The player will then go to the clinic and get their Baseline Testing completed. The testing takes about 30 minutes. The clinic is located at 3500 University Boulevard, Suite 101, Ames, IA across from Ames Fitness in the Research Park. There is no cost for the screening to AMHA players, and families are not required to use McFarland Sports Medicine Clinic for their post-concussion care. A player must complete their baseline testing by Monday, October 22 to continue participating in on-ice activities.
The player's baseline test will be used in the event of a suspected concussion to determine if the player can continue participating. If a player fails their baseline test, then that player will be placed in the Return to Play After Concussion Protocol. No player will return to play/competition (RTP) or practice on the same day of the concussion. The player must receive medical clearance from a licensed health care provider and provide a copy of the Medical Return to Play Form to the team coordinator. Once medical clearance is authorized, the player will follow the prescribed Return to Play After Concussion Protocol.
